The premise
A prince comes home to find his father remarried, and the new queen is the woman who has been visiting him in his dreams. The Gods Gave Me My Father’s Wife wraps a stepmother story in a royal fantasy: a palace, a prophecy and a king who does not see what is happening under his own roof. Candy files it under Fantasy, Stepmom, Cuckold and Taboo. It is one of the newer titles on the shelf.
The first episode
It opens with a glimpse of the affair already under way, then rewinds to the introduction. The king presents Queen Lysandra to his son, who realises with alarm that he knows her from his dreams. A court oracle interrupts with a warning that a serpent has entered the royal marriage and that the kingdom will fall for it; the king laughs it off and has her taken away. Left alone, the prince and the queen admit they have been sharing the same visions, and she tells him the gods have already decided what happens next.
The talk is bold, but the opener keeps nudity off screen.
About episode two
Like other recent series, the second episode is still free but plays only for visitors with a Candy account. We have not described it here beyond what Candy’s synopsis says: the shared visions draw the two of them into the affair.
From the lock onward
According to the synopsis, the paid episodes take the affair to discovery, banishment and an unexpected offer from the king. The three of them cost 36 tokens together. No explicitness rating or score here yet.
Next to other fantasy titles
Candy’s fantasy shelf is small but strong: Dragon Queen’s Dark Desire, Sworn to the Queen and Cleopatra and Caesar all share royal settings, and each of the three earned the full five stars from us. For a fantasy premise that is not a costume drama, She’s not real is our top-scored series.
Early verdict
A theatrical opener with a prophecy, a palace and a clear forbidden line, which is more set-up than most series manage in one episode. Fans of the royal fantasy titles should start here.
