The premise
She’s not real opens inside a virtual-reality headset. A first-time user is shown a menu of women, each introduced with an age and a one-line type, and told he can choose any of them. He chooses the guide instead. She tells him she is not on the menu, and the series is about why he keeps coming back anyway. It is a fantasy title in Candy’s tagging, and it is a little more self-aware than most: a story about an AI-built dream on a platform built on AI.
The menu and the refusal
Episode one is the menu and the refusal. The characters on offer are recognisable Candy regulars, all presented as adults in their twenties and thirties, and the guide, Mila Nowak, is amused rather than flattered by his choice. The session ends before he gets anywhere. Episode two is his return: the other options are suddenly unavailable, she is waiting, and she sets the terms for one night.
These are the sparest free episodes of the ten we have reviewed, with the least dialogue and the most atmosphere. Nothing explicit appears in them.
One night, unlocked
The one night, on her rules. The locked episodes earn five stars for explicitness, and She’s not real is one of twelve series with our top overall score, five out of five.
What it costs
Standard pricing: three locked episodes at 12 tokens, 36 tokens to the end. That is the cheapest way on Candy to see a top-rated series finished.
Who will enjoy it
Anyone bored of stepfamily setups, fans of fantasy and science-fiction framing, and viewers who want the most explicit tier without paying creator prices. It is also a good first unlock for newcomers, because the premise explains itself in a minute.
How it compares
Candy’s fantasy tag covers eight series, from dragon queens to Roman history, and most of them are costume stories. She’s not real is the only one built around a virtual-reality headset, and the only one that plays with the idea of choosing a partner from a menu, which is uncomfortably close to how Candy itself works. Of the other fantasy titles, Dragon Queen’s Dark Desire, Vampire’s Lust and Sworn to the Queen all rate five out of five for explicitness.
A tip before paying
The second free episode is short and sets up the terms for everything that follows, so there is little to lose by watching both before deciding. If you enjoy Mila Nowak as the guide, she leads three other open series, including Your Wish is my Command, which scores 4.5 out of 5.
Verdict
One of the best-value titles on the shelf: a top score, the top explicitness rating and the lowest price tier. If you unlock one series on Candy, this is a strong candidate.
