The premise
A marriage in trouble, a block of tango lessons as the cure, and a wife who never quite makes it to class. My Wife’s Dance Instructor is one of the three newest titles on Candy Shorts, released after our previous update, and Candy files it under Wife and Teacher. Monica Salazar, making her debut on the platform, plays the instructor.
Week one, week two
The first episode covers two lessons in a few minutes. The wife calls from work to say she is stuck and he should go alone, so the instructor takes her place as his partner and starts with the basics: the count, and the idea that tango lives in the hips. By the second week the wife has cancelled again, the lessons have moved on to turns, and the instructor is telling him to hold her as if he means it. She notes that, for a man with two left feet, he has never once trodden on her, and that his wife is missing out. The episode ends with her suggesting what she calls the private routine.
The opener stays on the dance floor, with no nudity or sex shown.
After the free lessons
A free Candy account unlocks episode two, which we have not watched; from the synopsis, the routine keeps its name, choreography, while turning into something else. The final three episodes are paid. No stars or score from us until we have seen more.
Tokens needed
Thirty-six for the three locked episodes, at the standard twelve each.
Instructors elsewhere on Candy
The closest comparison is Private Lessons, where Mia Malkova’s yoga teacher targets a student who is about to get married. Here the student is already married and the missing wife is the engine of the story, which gives it a slower, more melancholy tone.
A first opinion
Elegant and restrained, with the dance doing most of the flirting. If an affair that is never named as one sounds appealing, the opener will tell you quickly whether the tone works for you.
