The premise
A quiet weekend in the mountains, a booking error, and two couples holding keys to the same cabin. Lodge 69 Was Double Booked is a farce set-up that Candy plays for tension: the road is closed, there are no other rooms, and four adults have to share two bedrooms and a hot tub. Antonella Larrea leads in her Candy debut, and the series is tagged Wife.
Arrival
The opener starts with a slip on the icy steps and a quick catch, then the awkward discovery: the first couple are already inside when the second couple turn up asking whether this is Lodge 69. Calls to the rental desk go nowhere, since every room is taken and the road down is closed. One of the four shrugs it off, listing two bedrooms, a hot tub and four adults, and asks what could go wrong. The rest of the evening is small signals: a request to fetch a charger with a warning not to walk into the wrong room, a woman showing off an outfit to a partner more interested in his ski goggles, and her pointed remark that he will be on the slopes all day tomorrow.
A suggestive start, with nothing explicit shown.
The long weekend
The second episode is free with a Candy account and three paid ones follow. We have not watched past episode one, so the series has no rating here for the time being.
Cost in tokens
The three locked episodes come to 36 tokens.
Shared rooms on Candy
Midnight Compartment runs on the same engine, a booking mistake that forces strangers into one small space, and earned five explicitness stars from us. Couples Therapy With Margot Vey is the other recent series that puts a couple under pressure from an outsider.
Our view so far
A good ensemble set-up with a cast of four instead of the usual two, and a snowed-in setting that keeps everyone close. It is a slow build, so the free pair is worth watching before deciding.
